The effects of changes in precipitation temperatures for isothermal batch alumina trihydrate crystallizers were examined using laboratory precipitation vessels of 200 ml capacity. The precipitator was shown to perform meaningfully. Product yield and soda incorporation into product were found to decrease, while product size increased with rising temperature. It was concluded that a purer product could be obtained by precipitating over a temperature gradient.
