Abstract
Explains that some 16% of the 37,000 indentured Indian immigrants who arrived between 1845 and 1917 were Muslims. This minority maintained Islam and formed a link between the Moors and African Muslim slaves. Their cultural contributions have become part of Jamaica's multicultural and multi-heritage society.
