Abstract
Examines the themes and literary recourses which are to be found in contemporary short fiction by women writers of the Dominican Republic. Shows that, though these women writers do not have the backing of a long established literary tradition as do their male counterparts, they have similar concerns, both social and personal, and are breaking with the traditional and experimenting with new narrative forms of expression as well as exploring topics which hitherto were taboo in literature.....
