Abstract
Looks at the use of humour and comedy in West Indian literature to make fun of English/Clasical literature and to examine the relationship between the two literatures. Argues that the self-aware, self-possessed ability to make play with the 'Great Tradition' marks a point of sophistication in the self-realisation of West Indian literature and consequently an enlarging and refining or redefining of the idea of tradition.....
