Abstract
This paper was designed for educators who wish to grapple with the problem of violence and aggression in the classroom. Its focus is specifically geared towards helping students in the Department of Educational Studies to acquire basic skills and knowledge necessary to design and implement effective instructional and classroom management practices which will address the needs of the student in a holistic manner. The pro-social aspects of the studentsí training is the subject of considerable attention and the humanistic approach/aspect must be meaningfully dealt with. The provision of opportunities to learn and practice conflict resolution strategies is of paramount importance. These include: social skills strategies; practicing new skills; instructional consequences; teacher behaviour; verbal intervention and physical intervention.....
