Abstract
Discusses the state of best democratic practices in the independent countries of the Caribbean. Argues that in comparative terms the Caribbean has made a successful transition in the twentieth century from a variety of authoritarian forms of government to democratic forms but the process has been uneven. Concludes that the Caribbean needs to harness its intellectual resources, as economic growth will be the foundation on which democratic achievements can be secured and enhanced.....
