Abstract
The Lime Kiln at Prospect Pen is located a few metres from both the main road and the driveway up to the former Earth Station signal receiver operated by Cable and Wireless (Jamaica) Ltd. The entire property is up for sale and it is possible that the new owners may view the ruins as a convenient source of building materials.This fine example of eighteenth century industrial archaeology deserves to be preserved for posterity, and currently noticeable deterioration in the integrity of the structure should be at least halted if not partially reserved by conservation measures. The author visited the site (June 2005) and took some measurements and photographs; the latter can be compared to previously published images of the same structure, which are reproduced below for ease of reference.....
