The Dynamics of return migration

Recently there has been a continuous flow of Caribbean nationals back to the region. This development has far-reaching implications for the individual, the family and for Caribbean societies. This paper explores the dynamics of the return process and identifies some of the positive and negative consequences of return migration for development in the Caribbean. The paper emphasizes the relationship between those who have migrated from the Caribbean to the United Kingdom and those who have returned, the contributions they have made and are making to Caribbean societies, the challenges they encounter and the policy issues that must be addressed by the receiving (now home) countries in order to meet the needs of the returnees.....
