Abstract
Describes one important ritual in Revival religion in Jamaica, the Table, and examines it from the point of view of the ethical and social values it expresses. Explains that the wide relevance of Revivalism in the urban context, and has been showing some growth. Suggests that the rapid rise of Pentecostalism since the 1940s at the expense of the established European churches may be understood by the greater scope it gives for finding spiritual fulfilment in more culturally specific ways.
