Abstract
Presents findings from a study involving ten investment locations, Britain, Canada, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Ireland, Jamaica, Malaysia, Scotland, Singapore and Thailand, carried out to find the answers to the quesion: what policies should states adopt to attract foreign direct investment if states and multi-national enterprises are to co-operate? Interviewed over 100 persons from investment promotion or related agencies from three countries and managers of US corporations that have recently made investments in these countries Uncovers techniques with three objectives, image building, provision of investment services, and, investment generation in use, with most agencies concentrating on the first and third.....
