Abstract
Discusses the concepts of 'globalization', 'sustainable development' and 'postmodernism' in the context of the experiences of industrialized countries. Suggests that because of the dominance of industrialized countries within the world economy, developing countries have been compelled to internalize a number of these new concepts, many of which are not consistent with their own experiences. Terms this 'ideology of imperialism' and argues that the growing concern with notions of sustainable development, globalization and postmodernism, by developing countries - if not approached critically - could well lead to further confusion and alienation in the South.....
