Abstract
The University of the West Indies (UWI) is the only tertiary education institution in the English-speaking Caribbean to offer a 3-year B.Sc. degree course in geology. The Department of Geology, which was established in 1961, has been granting bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees for the past 30 years. New teaching techniques and the funding of research in geology at UWI are examined. The progressive changes in the geology curricula over the years, and the restructuring of the regulations to facilitate more flexibility in the under-graduate programme are discussed.....
