An update on the management of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are very common and in many patients no treatment is needed. Medicinal treatment of fibroids is inadequate when used alone. The use of surgical treatment is mandatory in many women to relieve symptoms. The safety of surgical techniques has been enhanced by adjuncts to surgery, such as pretreatment with GnRH agonists, intraoperative adhesion prevention, and haemostatic agents such as vascopressin. Probably a combination of all these techniques will result in optimal treatment until newer methods are found to prevent fibroids and to treat them medically.....
