Fossil echinoderms in the Lucas Barrett collection, Geology Museum, University of the West Indies, Mona

One of the 19th century collections in the Geology Museum, University of the West Indies, Mona, is that of Lucas Barrett (1837-1862), first director of the original Geological Survey of Jamaica. Fossil echinoderms in this collection include Carboniferous crinoids, Jurassic and Cretaceous echinoids (all most probably from England), and Jamaican Cretaceous echinoids. These specimens are classified in detail and catalogued for the first time in this paper. Only a few specimens are associated with any locality data and even these may be erroneous. It is uncertain if some or all of these specimens may have been bought or exchanged by Barrett; if not, this suggests that his field research in England was more extensive than was previously understood.....
