Atypical hyperplasia of the breast

Breast cancer is common in women world-wide. Certain benign breast lesions, including some previously subsumed under the classification of so-called 'fibrocystic disease', significantly increase breast cancer risk. Atypical hyperplasia breast disease(AH) represents the zone between benign and malignant breast disease and connotes a moderately increased relative risk (4 to 5 times) of developing invavise cancer. The criteria for diagnosis and comparisons with in situ carcinoma, including the expression of various biological markers, are discussed. Affected women should be prudently counselled, and their long-term follow-up ensured.....
