Abstract
Breast cancer is common in women world-wide. Certain benign breast lesions, including some previously subsumed under the classification of so-called 'fibrocystic disease', significantly increase breast cancer risk. Atypical hyperplasia breast disease(AH) represents the zone between benign and malignant breast disease and connotes a moderately increased relative risk (4 to 5 times) of developing invavise cancer. The criteria for diagnosis and comparisons with in situ carcinoma, including the expression of various biological markers, are discussed.
