Abstract
Utilises the techniques of cointegration and unit root testing to determine the presence of a long-term relationship between real GDP per capita and the share of government expenditure in GDP in Jamaica (1953-1991), Guyana (1950-1990),Barbados (1960-1997) and Trinidad and Tobago (1950-1991). Concludes that Wegner's hypothesis holds for none of these countries for the period covered and this conclusion together with those of many recent studies point to the fact that Wegner's law may hold less frequently than was suggested by earlier studies.....
