Abstract
Focuses on the relationship between the creolization of the enslaved population, occupational differentiation as a distinguishing feature of demographic creolization, and the enslaved's anti-slavery politics. Hypothesises that the politics of enslaved peoples in Creole society suggests that they engaged the ruling classes with a sophisticated dialogue that targeted liberty as the central and ultimate objective.
