Abstract
Accounts for the development of microenterprises in Jamaica. Using supporting data from the 1980s argues that due to the contraction in the labour market many individuals turned to self employment and other independent occupations, in so much, that the government introduced policy measures to facilitate the financial and organizational development of microenterprises.
