Abstract
Discusses the pros and cons of three mechanisms for regulating employment relations in the English-speaking Caribbean: the unregulated market; collective bargaining and legislation and regulation. Considers these mechanisms under changing economic circumstances such as global competition, trade liberalization, increased capital flows and wider and deeper economic integration with other economies. Makes some comparisons with Canada and concludes that the solution is to seek to develop an optimal combination of the three mechanisms, which may at times differ depending upon the specific policy considerations.....
