Abstract
In this chapter, the author explore the policing of the US-Mexico border and identifies through an investigation of material and discursive practices of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and, in particular, the Border Patrol (which is the uniformed branch of INS responsible for control of undocumented immigration into the US). The author also discusses the ways in which social and spacial constructs of the border have been utilized at different moments, and the complimentary and contradictory ways in which these government entities have approached immigration.....
