Abstract
An endemic Jamaican variety of Piper amalgo has afforded six amides. Four are known compounds, and two (1 and 2) are new. Two-demensional NMR spectroscopy has been used to assign the structures of the new amides and to assigh completely the 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the known compounds. All six amides have been tested in secticidal activity against Aedes aegyptii larvae; some activity is observed and related to molecular features. But none of the compounds show activity against Mycobacterium tubercolosis.....
