Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine whether the normal green and a chlorophyll-deficient mutant phenotype in roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) differ in seed yield and agronomic characteristics. Two genotypes, Jamaican Green (JG) and a Chlorophyll Deficient (CD) mutant, were used in two planting dates under normal production conditions for the evaluation. The agronomic characters in the evaluation included plant height, number of branches per plant, number of capsules per plant, wieght of calyces per plant, phytomass per plant and seed yield per plant. There were no significant differences, however, between JG and CD in flowering time and harvest index. The reproduction (seed yield and yield of calyces) in the CD mutant was seriously impaired.
