Abstract
Specifies some of the political and military responses of the Kalinago people (known in colonial documentation as Caribs) to the European invasion as they sought to maintain control over lands and lives in the islands of the Lesser Antilles. Makes reference to the immediate post-Columbian decades, and touches briefly upon the early eighteenth century to the Treaty of Utrecht in 173, but it is concerned principally with the period 1624 to 1700 when Kalinagos were confronted by considerable military pressures from English and French colonising agents.....
