Abstract
Argues that, although globalization is facilitated by technological change, it is essentially a product of conscious economic policy on the part of the developed countries in support of their economic interests based on the creation of expanded opportunities for trade and investment on a global scale. Further argues that the current approach to globalization, which is reflected in the principles embodied in the multilateral trade agreements has led to significant power asymmetries between North and South and also growing income disparities between the two groups of countries.....
