Abstract
Draws on a series of national empirical studies as well as on other research data to map the contours of public perceptions about key issues such as crime and violence, visitor harassment, the all-inclusive concept, Jamaicans in Jamaican hotels, the quality of local infrastructure, and other factors affecting the future of the industry. Among the key conclusions is the need for a more systematic integration of ordinary Jamaicans and Jamaican communities in the marketing and delivery of tourism products and services. And, critical to this approach is an urgent need for innovative public education and industry management strategies. Provides a Jamaican case study with clear implications for building a more sustainable industry in the wider Caribbean region.....
