Journal of Education and Development in the Caribbean
Date of Publication
Investigates whether engagement of 10th grade students in practical work, as a supplement to their being taught by a combination of the lecture method and teacher's demonstrations, had any effect on their attitudes to chemistry. Data were collected by means of an attitude to chemistry questionnaire and a test of knowledge of acids and bass. Results indicated that, between an experimental and a control group, there were no statistically significant differences in post-test mean scores on acids and bases linked to treatment and attitudes to chemistry. However, in the experimental group, there was a positive, statistically significant by weak relationship between treatment, post-test attitudes to chemistry, and test scores on acids and bases.....
