Abstract
This study compared the categories of labelling errors in the drawings and diagrams of eight popular biology textbooks used in Caribbean and Nigerian secondary schools and discussed their likely origin(s). Six categories of erros found in the four Caribbean and four Nigerian texts are: labels in plural pointing to a single structure, labels pointing to empty spaces, lables without gidelines, drawings without labels, incorrect labels, and partial labels, misspelt labels and one label pointing to two separate structures are two other categories of errors found only in the Nigerian texts.
