Free Plasma Choline Concentrations During the First to Second Trimester of Pregnancy in Jamaican Women: Implications of Inaduquate Dietary Intake

Objective: To investigate the effect of pregnancy on free plasma choline concentrations and the role of dieatry choline in Jamaican women.Methods: Sixteen women presenting to the antenatal clinic of the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) at 10-15 weeks of gestation were selected for this pilot study. A food frequency questionnaire was administered. Fasting blood samples were collected by vene-puncture at 10-15 and 21-24 weeks of gestation.
