Abstract
Objective: Long-term dietary intake and physical activity influence risk of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Here we report the first cross-sectional associations between nutrient intake and glucose intolerance in three populations of African origin in different locations. Design and Methods: Men and women ages 24-74 years from urban Cameroon (n = 1045), rural Cameroon (745), Jamaica (857) and African-Caribbeans from Manchester, UK (258) had anthropometric measurements and standard 75G glucose tolerance test (GTT).
