Abstract
Small associations bring unique perspectives to any twinning discussion. This paper examines twinning between library associations in general and with particular emphasis on small associations' experiences. It examines their characteristics and discusses the perceived benefits and challenges such a twinning partnership provides. Are the obstacles facing small associations too formidable? The paper advances the view that the challenges can be overcome and that there are a set of circumstances that create successful twinning. It ends by discussing the role of small associations in fostering this success and makes recommendations on ways large associations and IFLA/RTMLA can assist in the endeavour.....
