Abstract
The practicum in educational administration is a critical component in the training of educational administrators for Jamaican schools. The main aim is to foster leadership and professional development of teachers, which will later lead to school improvement. During the practicum, students are expected to translate theoretical principles to practical activities in the school or in the school communities. The practicum provides leadership training for students and community services for the school and its communities. Both local and specialist supervisors visit the site of the practicum project to facilitate the student effort. At the end of the project, it is assessed by two supervisors using set criteria. The practicum in educational administration is a project which provides an opportunity for students to practice dealing with a school or community related problem or need.
