Abstract
Advances an extension of the idea of the search for recognition to address the issue of individual and collective sovereignty in the Caribbean. Argues that there is a compelling case to be made for economic and political integration within CARICOM, because of changes in the global political economy within the last two decades. However, while CARICOM officials and regional governments have been making such a case, they have failed to bring along civil society in the region because of a number of factors.
