Abstract
Explores the Old Road impasse, which occurred when residents of a rural community in Antigua protested against the expansion of a nearby hotel. As a result, the hotelier abandoned the project, and government had to work to market the island as a peaceful and safe destination for investors. In-depth interviews were conducted with residents of Old Road, including one of the protest leaders, politicians and project managers of the hotel.
