Abstract
This exploratory study examines the relationship between the growth of tourism in Quintana Roo, Mexico and its impact on the culture of the Maya. Argues that there is a direct relationship between the growth of tourism in the state of Quintana Roo and the resurgence of Maya culture, especially their language. In light of this situation, it is recommended that indigenous tourism may be a suitable and sustainable option that can be pursued by the state. This type of tourism would not only enhance the cultural developement of the Mayan people, but would also give them a greater stake in the industry, thereby improving their economic situation and further enhancig their culture.....
