Examines female criminality in Jamaica during the late 19th century and early 20th centuries. Explores crimes including murder, infanticide, assault, poisoning, disorderly conduct, and looks at the state's response in terms of legislative and punitive measures. Concludes that the judicial system was more lenient towards crime such as infanticide because while crimes such as poisoning and murder attracted more severe penalties.....
