Abstract
The following human pathogenic fungi - Fonsecaea pedrosoi, Petrellidium boydii, Microsporum gypeseum. Trichophyton mentagraphytis, Candida krusei and a Rhizopus spp. - were exposed to a series of concentrations of a methanol extract of the dried kernels of the neem plant (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) in agar, to determine the minimum concentration of the extract that would inhibit the growth of each fungus (MIC values) The order of the MIC values (mg/mL) found for the fungi was: F. Pedrosoi < P. boydii < M. gypeseum < T. mentagraphytis < C. krusei < Rhizopus spp.....
