An ethyl acetate soluble fraction of an ethanol extract of the breadfruit leaf has been shown to have cardiodepressive properties consistent with the folklore use of the leaves of this plant as an antihypertensive agent. The cardiodepressive effect could be due to peripheral vasodilation or a negative inotropic effect on the ventricular myocardium.....
