Abstract
In contrast to the reaction between [Re(CO)5Cl] and dpktsc in refluxing toluene that gave fac-[Re(CO)3(h2-N,N-dpktsc)Cl], the reaction between [Mn(CO)5Br] with dpktsc gave carbonyl free complex formulated as [MnBr(h4-N,N,S,N-dpktsc]. The identity of the isolated compounds was elucidated from the results of their elemental analysis, spectroscopic properties and solid state structures. Spectroscopic properties of these compounds measured in non-aqueous solvents revealed sensitivity of these compounds to changes in their surroundings and spectrophotometric titrations revealed that substrates in concentrations as low concentrations can be detected and determined using protophilic solutions of fac-[Re(CO)3(h2-N,N-dpktsc)Cl]. Electrochemical measurements performed on the isolated compounds revealed a series of irreversible redox processes consistent with the oxidative and reductive decomposition of dpktsc.....
