Abstract
Interest in the issues affecting family business has heightened in recent years. However, there is a dearth in the literature on the influence of religion on this category of businesses. In an effort to address this gap, this paper reports on a case study that examines the influence of religion on family-owned businesses in three English Speaking Caribbean countries; Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. The study draws on a sample of 192 family owned businesses and focus group sessions. The study reveals that religion influences critical decisions in family-owned businesses, including the motivation for starting a family business.
