Abstract
The literature on resilience can be organized in terms of psychological, sociological and social psychological or interactional approaches. The interactional approach sees resilience as a transaction involving individual and context resources. This paper reviews the literature on resilience with special attention to the interactional approach. It also raises the issue of resilience with particular regard to youth. In critically examining the literature, an attempt is made to articulate and develop the decision making dimensions of resilience. The paper looks at the context, the process and the timing of decision making and the context factors that support and distinguish resilience in the decision making amongst youth.
